Katsunobu Kato (born November 22, 1955) is a Japanese politician who serves as the Minister of Health, Labour, and Welfare since August 2022, previously serving from 2017 to 2018 and again from 2019 to 2020. He also served as Chief Cabinet Secretary from September 2020 to October 2021 under Yoshihide Suga. He is also a member of the House of Representatives for Okayama’s 5th district since 2003. A native of Kurashiki, Okayama and a graduate of the University of Tokyo with a Bachelor of Economics degree, he worked at the Ministry of Finance from 1979 to 1995, and was elected to the House of Representatives for the first time in 2003 after unsuccessful runs in 1998 and 2000. He also served as Minister of Health, Labour, and Welfare from 2017 to 2018 and again from 2019 to 2020.
Katō is affiliated with the Ultranationalist organization Nippon Kaigi.
