The Truth

NEW WORLD ORDER

The New World Order (NWO) is a conspiracy theory which hypothesizes a secretly emerging totalitarian world government. The common theme in conspiracy theories about a New World Order is that a secretive power elite with a globalist agenda is conspiring to eventually rule the world through an authoritarian world government—which will replace sovereign nation-states—and an all-encompassing propaganda whose ideology hails the establishment of the New World Order as the culmination of history’s progress. Many influential historical and contemporary figures have therefore been alleged to be part of a cabal that operates through many front organizations to orchestrate significant political and financial events, ranging from causing systemic crises to pushing through controversial policies, at both national and international levels, as steps in an ongoing plot to achieve world domination.

THE SKRULLS
(Reptilian Alien Species, Captain Marvel)

The Skrulls are a villainous race of imperialistic aliens in the Marvel universe.

The Skrulls have been regularly featured in several decades of Marvel Comics, usually as antagonists of the Fantastic Four and engaged in a prolonged war with the extraterrestrial Kree. At times the race has been portrayed as a villainous one, and at other times Marvel has portrayed them as any other sentient race with its own hopes and dreams, fears and prejudices, and so on. Likewise, when it comes to individuals, some portrayed as villains, others as heroes, and most in the grey zone.

The Skrulls appear as major antagonists-turned-major protagonists in the 2019 superhero film Captain Marvel of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (which is based on the Kree-Skrull War comic book storyline).

Traits and Abilities

Skrulls are green-skinned humanoids with large pointed ears like elves or goblins, red or green eyes, and chins with several vertical folds or wrinkles in the skin below their mouths. Skrulls are known for genetic and molecular instability, and genetic diversity, due to Celestial experimentation creating the Skrull “Deviants” (now the only surviving Skrulls).

The Skrulls are known for their physical malleability and ability to change to any size, shape, or color at will, taking on the appearance but not the characteristics of other beings and objects within a volume range of .75 to 1.5 times the Skrull’s original volume. Skrulls are able to assume virtually any form, be it organic (e.g., cows or wild predators ) or inorganic (e.g., lamp ).

As a result, the Skrulls excel at spying and infiltration. Skrulls are also able to use their shapeshifting abilities to form weapons (e.g., blades and clubs) with parts of their bodies, making them dangerous hand-to-hand combatants. Their sexual dimorphism is roughly the same of a human being, but their orientation is more complex since they can change their genders at will. Indeed, once casually said that, for a Skrull, changing gender is comparable to a human being changing their hair color.

Within the Skrull race, there are some who possess telepathy and some of them serve the Skrull royals as Priests of the Mind. Among the Skrulls, there are currently two sub-species. One is known as War Skrulls, who have the ability to mimic the powers of other beings. The other are the Skrull mutants who possess the K-gene, which gives them mutations and/or super powers similar to the powers of Earth’s mutants.

Courtesy of their advanced technology, the Skrulls have also been able to augment their abilities in certain warriors, such as the original Super-Skrull, the Power Skrull, and most recently the cadre of warriors known simply as Super Skrulls. Originally using cybernetic implants these agents were given the ability to replicate the super powers of certain Earth heroes. Later, their technology advanced to the stage that they created Super Skrulls who were genetically engineered to have those powers. Using a mixture of science and magic they also made it so they could not be discovered by telepathy, magic, technology, or mutant senses as long they were in deep cover (sleeper agents who were unaware they were Skrulls).

A History Of The Marvel Universe – Part 8
Origin of the Skrulls

Origin

Over a billion years ago, the cosmic gods were known as the Celestials came to Skrullos and experimented on the Skrulls just as they have done on millions of worlds. Three branches were created, the normal Skrulls (with the potential to produce mutants with powers and perhaps evolve into Celestials themselves), the Deviant branch (with shapeshifting abilities), and the smallest cohort of them all the Eternal branch (extreme longevity and cosmically enhanced abilities).

Eventually, war raged on Skrullos between the races and it was the Deviant branch which emerged victorious exterminating the basic Skrulls and the Eternals. Only one Eternal remained, Kly’bn and he was able to persuade queen Sl’gur’t (the leader of the Deviants) to become his mate and join him as the god and goddess of the Skrulls. The Deviant branch later split into two more groups, the modern Skrulls and an anomaly called the Dire Wraiths, a parasitic race that could still shapeshift and had knowledge of magic, but were not as technologically advanced as the Skrulls.

The modern Skrulls originate from the planet of Skrullos and were originally a mercantile civilization, primarily interested in free trade and willing to share their technology with all races they deemed worthy. When they encountered a new race, they simply transformed themselves to resemble that race. The Skrull empire that resulted from these contacts was based on free trade and mutual cooperation.

The Skrulls were once a peaceful space-faring race of merchants long ago until then they met the Kree, a hostile culture of alien warriors. Everything changed since the unfortunate encounter with the Kree, the Skrulls decided to train themselves to combat against their sworn enemies. However, violence and conquest are now the Skrulls’ way of life.

Skrull Empire

Overview

The Deviant Skrulls have established the oldest known continuous interstellar empire in the universe. They have conquered or colonized every suitable planet in the Andromeda galaxy and their empire has reached neighboring galaxies. It is an empire which has laid waste to a thousand galaxies. Within this intergalactic empire are trillions of Skrulls, and numerous sentient species. It is an empire with a totalitarian monarchy, ruled by an emperor or empress with prelates in charge of quadrants and governors running individual worlds. Assisting the emperor is the Imperial Council, the High Command, the Priests of the Mind (Court Telepaths), and the Priests of the Sciences (Court Scientists).

It has not always conquered alien worlds. There are worlds that have willingly allowed themselves to be absorbed by the Skrull Empire. Those worlds that do so are permitted varying degrees of autonomy. Even those races that are conquered by the Skrulls may be permitted to serve the empire in a semi-authomous fashion, such as the Yirbek who had a small interstellar empire and were conquered by the Skrulls. Who now serve the Skrulls as mercenaries in minor interstellar conflicts, and even have their own interstellar fleet. All worlds in the Skrull Empire, whither they were conquered or peacefully absorbed, are represented in the imperial government by Skrulls. The Skrull Empire also has signed treaties with those worlds and races which they deemed pose no threat to the empire, and maintains profitable trading relationships with them.

The Skrulls have been at war with the Kree for over 10 million years. They have hunted and exterminated the diabolical, vampiric, & parasitic Dire Wraiths whenever feasible. Another long-standing enemy of theirs is the Badoon, a reptilian race often allied to the Kree. They are a member of the Intergalactic Council, which is made of up of the main interstellar powers in the Local Group of galaxies (Shi’ar, Kree, Spartoi, Brood, & the Annihilation Wave). If there is a greater threat to the Local Group of galaxies or to the universe in general, the Skrulls have worked with the members of that Council to deal with that threat.

It appears to be the most resilient empire in the cosmos, as it has never been shown to be completely conquered by an outside force. It may lose planets to invaders or celestial beings, have parts of the empire devastated by invaders or the Cosmic Cube, or suffer a civil war and warlordism but never has a foreign power conquered the whole Skrull empire or race. Unlike their rivals, the Kree Empire who have been conquered twice in recent memory (1st the Shi’ar Empire and then the Phalanx) and the Shi’ar Imperium who were recently conquered by the Kree.

It was the Skrulls who have come closest to succeeding in their invasion of Earth among all the alien races who attempted to conquer or destroy the Earth in the “Prime Reality” (e.g. the Dire Wriaths, Kree, Brood, Phalanx, Badoon, Kronans, Plodex, Makluans, etc). They actually succeeded in conquering Earth, an achievement that only Thanos achieved a decade later though neither held the world for long. Neither the insectoid Brood or the techno-organic Phalanx have been shown to have had success in infiltrating the Skrull Empire, unlike the Kree & Shi’ar dominions who were infiltrated by both. The Skrulls, in turn, had an infiltrator of theirs (Nenora) who secretly ruled for a time the Kree Empire and it was Skrull infiltrators who almost brought down the Shi’ar Imperium via atrocities they had the Shi’ar military commit on its own people. Unlike the Shi’ar (with the human mutant Vulcan) or the Kree (with the Inhuman Black Bolt), the Skrulls have not had the humiliation of a hostile foreigner taking the throne.

Culture

Skrulls are an expansionist race with their own version of Manifest Destiny. Who believe that all worlds are destined to be Skrull worlds. That they must bring peace to the cosmos, and to do that the Skrulls must subjugate or conquer every race and world in the universe. Skrull society consists of castes of which the known ones are the nobility, the warrior caste, the scientist caste, the priest caste, and the worker caste.

Socially the Skrulls run the gamut in lifestyle and careers. Though the Skrulls are known as being a ferocious warrior race, the majority of Skrulls live peaceful lives similar to those of most sentient races. Families that consist of a father, mother, and children. People with their own dreams, aspirations, and hopes. Many of them are religious, having faith in the Skrull gods. Skrulls have been known to make sacrifices for their children, even dying for them. It is a people which enjoys art, even its warriors who listen to non-martial music.

They are a race with their own concept of honor. Debts are repaid, especially if one saves the life of a Skrull or a loved one (e.g. daughter). Despite developing genocidal biological weapons, they have refused to use such horrendous weapons, even against their oldest enemies, the Kree. Skrulls respect and honor those of great courage, going so far as to give their greatest foe their highest honor. There are those among the warrior caste that will face their foes in equal numbers, even if they outnumber them only a specific number will go into battle.

Armed Forces

Every Skrull is conscripted into the military upon reaching the correct age. Deserters are pursued and face the death penalty if caught. Training for the warrior caste is brutal, and only the strong live to graduate. Skrull warriors are fanatical and will often fight to the last rather than surrendering. The Skrull military uses martial music, including war chants that are broadcast to their warriors for hours, driving them into a frenzy. A Skrull warrior is taught to kill rather than wound, and to be merciless in battle. They have no qualms about slaughtering civilians or innocents. Obliterating worlds or massacring populations without a legitimate military reason though, is something that the Skrulls find both wasteful and distasteful.

The Skrull armada is a vastly powerful interstellar fleet, consisting of thousands of warships from scout ship and patrol ships to mile-long and city-sized capital ships to planetoid sized worldships. Starships of incredible power, with the smallest capable of delivering kiloton or megaton type attacks with a concentrated beam blast. Capital ships may be armed with planet destroying missiles, which can turn a world into a ball of hellfire and the most powerful of them being able to shatter gas giant planets. Skrull starships are deployed individually, in squadrons, or in fleets that can consist of hundreds of starships. They also have weaponry that can blow up stars.

For waging battle in a planet, there is the Skrull army. Which defends Skrull worlds, occupies recently conquered worlds, and invades enemy worlds. They are deployed in units as large as divisions. Most of the Skrull warriors lack visible armor, but a minority of the forces (shock troops and commandos) are heavily armored. They are supported by a variety of armored and shielded vehicles, both aerial and ground. The ground vehicles can be over a dozen ft tall in height. In addition the ground forces have mecha, both two-legged and multi-legged walkers, and humanoid robots which can me multi-story tall. Some of their vehicles have weaponry powerful enough to kill lower tier gods.

Spider-Man Far From Home (2019)
Nick Fury Skrull Ending (Post Credit Scene)

Marvel Cinematic Universe (Reptilian Propaganda)

The Skrulls appeared in the 2019 film Captain Marvel led by Talos. However, as opposed to being ruthless conquerors depicted in the comics, they are fierce yet benevolent creatures who are victims of a genocidal war committed by the Kree Empire (led by the Supreme Intelligence). It turns out that the Skrulls refused to subjugate to the Kree Empire’s tyrannical rule, and that the Supreme Intelligence ordered their genocide also spreading fraudulent propaganda about the Skrulls being evil invaders who use their shapeshifting abilities to infiltrate and conquer planets causing most planets to turn against the Skrulls. Eventually, former Starforce member Vers learned the truth about her powers and origins and that she was used by the Supreme Intelligence to pinpoint the Skrulls’s current location on Earth.

Infuriated of being used, Vers severed her ties with the Kree Empire and joined the Skrulls. After defeating Yon-Rogg and Ronan’s fleet from threatening Earth, Vers vowed to help the Skrulls to find a new homeworld.

Talos appears a major character in the 2019 film Spider-Man: Far From Home, during which he impersonated Nick Fury so that Fury could go on vacation with the Skrulls in space. During the post-credits scene of the movie it was revealed that Fury and Maria Hill were actually Talos and Norex the entire time unbeknownst to everyone else.

A Skrull agent disguised as an FBI agent makes an appearance during the post-credit scene of WandaVision, where she informed Monica Rambeau that Nick Fury learned of Monica’s acquisition of superpowers and now wanted Monica to join him and the Skrulls in space for an important meeting.

Production (Development)

In September 2020, Kyle Bradstreet was revealed to be developing a television series for the streaming service Disney+ centered on the Marvel Comics character Nick Fury. The character had previously been one of ten properties announced in September 2005 by Marvel Entertainment chairman and CEO Avi Arad as being developed for film by the newly formed studio Marvel Studios, after Marvel received financing to produce the slate of films to be distributed by Paramount Pictures; Andrew W. Marlowe was hired to write a script for a Nick Fury film in April 2006. In April 2019, after Samuel L. Jackson had portrayed Nick Fury in ten Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films as well as the Marvel Television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Richard Newby from The Hollywood Reporter felt it was time the character received his own film, calling the character “the MCU’s most powerful asset yet to be fully untapped”. Jackson was attached to reprise his role in Bradstreet’s series, with the latter writing and serving as executive producer.

In December 2020, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige officially announced a new series titled Secret Invasion, with Jackson co-starring with Ben Mendelsohn in his MCU role of Talos. The series is based on the 2008–09 comic book storyline of the same name, with Feige describing it as a “crossover event series” that would tie-in with future MCU films; the series’ premise further described it as a crossover event series. Marvel Studios chose to make a Secret Invasion series instead of a film because it allowed them to do something different than they had done before. Directors were being lined up for the series by April 2021, with Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim attached a month later. Marvel Studios’ Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, and Jonathan Schwartz also serve as executive producers. The series will consist of six 40–50 minute episodes.

REPTILIAN DISCLOSURE

Secret Invasion
Issue #1

The Official Story

SECRET INVASION (2008)
(Marvel Comics)

Secret Invasion” is a comic book crossover storyline that ran through a self-titled eight-issue limited series and several tie-in books published by Marvel Comics from April through December 2008. The story involves a subversive, long-term invasion of Earth by the Skrulls, a group of alien shapeshifters who have secretly replaced many superheroes in the Marvel Universe with impostors over a period of years, prior to the overt invasion. Marvel’s promotional tagline for the event was “Who do you trust?”.

A six-episode television miniseries based on the storyline and produced by Marvel Studios as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is scheduled to be released in 2023 on Disney+.

Production and marketing

Writer Brian Michael Bendis stated in interviews that the motivation for the invasion is the destruction of the Skrull Empire in the 2007 “Annihilation” storyline. Bendis said the Skrulls believe Earth “is religiously and rightfully theirs,” and that there are hints as to the plot placed in the limited series Secret War and the title New Avengers from the first issue. The limited series concluded the plot and was, according to Bendis, “a hell of an end.”

In November 2007, several ongoing titles and mini-series were branded as tie-ins to the main Secret Invasion storyline, with the tagline: Secret Invasion: The Infiltration. In addition to the core story, the Avengers titles provided additional plot material and acted as a link between titles. Other Marvel titles also featured variant covers with the characters depicted as Skrulls. Bendis stated that the series would not deal with the origins of the invasion, but is conceived from the following perspective: “If there’s a character on the team who’s a Skrull, we will rewind from when they got on that team, or from before they got on that team, so when they are infiltrated, how they became who they became and the effects of their actions from their ‘point of view’ is shown.”

The Marvel website featured two online-exclusive e-comics for the event, titled Secret Invasion Prologue (a seven-page comic that reveals the replacement of a previously unknown Skrull agent) and Secret Invasion: Home Invasion (a MySpace video blog featuring a young teenager named Kinsey Walden and her fears regarding her brother’s strange behavior), supported by comic pages by writer Ivan Brandon and artist Nick Postic.

Marvel’s Secret Invasion Story Explained (Comics Explained)

PLOT SUMMARY

After the Kree–Skrull War the Earth superheroes Iron Man, Mister Fantastic, Namor, Black Bolt, Professor Charles Xavier and Doctor Strange join as a group called the Illuminati to secretly confront the Skrulls. They attack the Skrull Empire, and warn that any future invasion attempts of Earth would mean further reprisals; however, they are all captured and intensely studied before escaping.

An eventual successor to the Skrull throne, Princess Veranke, claims that a prophecy foretold the annihilation of the Skrull homeworld. The current Emperor, Dorrek, exiles her to a prison world for inciting religious extremism. After the destruction of the Skrull Throneworld by the cosmic entity Galactus, Veranke becomes Empress by lineage, and guides an invasion of Earth, armed with the knowledge of superhumans gained from having studied the Illuminati. The Skrulls capture several superhumans and infiltrate Earth’s defenses, with Veranke herself posing as heroine Spider-Woman. Veranke is inconvenienced when there is a breakout of supervillains at the Raft prison, which forces her to join the New Avengers team.

After the Civil War, Elektra, the leader of the ninja group the Hand, is revealed to be a Skrull named Pagon after dying in battle with the New Avengers. Veranke takes the corpse to Tony Stark (who, at the time, led the pro-registration Mighty Avengers) to sow distrust among the superhero community. She joins the Mighty Avengers, claiming it will throw the Skrulls off balance. Posing as agents of spy organization S.H.I.E.L.D., the Skrulls attempt to mine the metal vibranium in the Savage Land and battle the New Avengers before being killed. The Illuminati battle an impostor posing as Black Bolt and two new Super-Skrulls, possessing all-new powers.

The Skrull invasion destabilizes the superhuman community as:

  1. Simultaneous strikes disable the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier and orbiting base The Peak.
  2. A breakout is instigated at the supervillain holding facility the Raft.
  3. The Baxter Building (headquarters of the Fantastic Four) is transported to the Negative Zone.
  4. Thunderbolt Mountain (headquarters of the Thunderbolts) is attacked.

Additionally, the Avengers are attacked by Skrulls posing as heroes in the Savage Land, and Reed Richards is wounded by the Skrull Criti Noll (who was posing as Henry Pym) seconds after determining a way to identify the shape shifters.

After several battles between Earth’s heroes and the Skrulls in Manhattan and the Savage Land, Mr. Fantastic manages to develop a device that can detect the aliens. Criminal kingpin the Hood aids the heroes, deciding “no more Earth is bad for business.” Veranke regroups with her forces in New York City in a final battle against the combined Avengers, now aided by Nick Fury and his new Commandos, Thor, Daredevil, Ka-Zar, and super teams such as the Young Avengers and the Thunderbolts.

Veranke is wounded by the Avenger Hawkeye. Criti Noll activates a booby trap placed on the heroine Wasp, although the blast is contained by Thor at the cost of her life. Veranke is then shot and killed by Norman Osborn (using a weapon he created with intelligence stolen from Deadpool). The last remnants of the Skrull armada are destroyed, with Iron Man locating the missing heroes. S.H.I.E.L.D. is dissolved by executive order of the President of the United States while a last Skrull (posing as the Avengers’ butler Edwin Jarvis) flees with the child of hero Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. This Skrull is killed by Bullseye shortly after returning the child. Norman Osborn is placed in charge of S.H.I.E.L.D’s replacement, H.A.M.M.E.R., and forms a secret group consisting of himself, Emma Frost, Namor, Doctor Doom, The Hood and Loki which commences the “Dark Reign” storyline.

In other media

Television

In December 2020, a Disney+ Secret Invasion television show based on the limited comic series was announced as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). It will star Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, both reprising their roles from the MCU films and Kingsley Ben-Adir as the series villain while Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, Killian Scott, Christopher McDonald and Carmen Ejogo were cast in undisclosed roles.

Brian Michael Bendis

The Official Story

BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS
(Comic Writer, Secret Invasion, Marvel Comics)

Brian Michael Bendis (born August 18, 1967) is an American comic book writer and artist. He has won five Eisner Awards for both his creator-owned work and his work on various Marvel Comics books.

Starting with crime and noir comics, Bendis eventually moved to mainstream superhero work. With Bill Jemas and Mark Millar, Bendis was the writer on the first book of the Ultimate Marvel Universe, launching Ultimate Spider-Man in 2000. He relaunched the Avengers franchise with New Avengers in 2004, and also wrote the Marvel storylines “Secret War” (2004–2005), “House of M” (2005), “Secret Invasion” (2008), “Siege” (2010) and “Age of Ultron” (2013).

Though Bendis has cited comic book writers such as Frank Miller and Alan Moore, his own writing influences are less rooted in comics, drawing on the work of David Mamet, Richard Price, and Aaron Sorkin, whose dialogue, Bendis said, was “the best in any medium.”

In addition to writing comics, Bendis has worked in television, video games and film. He has also taught courses on graphic novels at University of Oregon and Portland State University. In 2014, Bendis wrote Words for Pictures: The Art and Business of Writing Comics and Graphic Novels, a book about comics published by Random House.

Marvel’s Secret Invasion Story Explained (Comics Explained)

Marvel Comics

Also in 2004, Bendis oversaw the closing issues of The Avengers as part of the crossover storyline “Avengers Disassembled”. This led directly to the Bendis-helmed relaunch of one version of the eponymous team in the pages of The New Avengers. Bendis’s work on this storyline included the death of Avenger Hawkeye, which proved controversial. In 2005, with artist Olivier Coipel, Bendis wrote the New Avengers / X-Men crossover, “House of M”, which would retroactively be considered the second act of a three-act super-event beginning with “Avengers Disassembled” and culminating in the Bendis-written 2008 storyline “Secret Invasion”. Bendis also wrote the storyline “Secret War”, which was published between 2004 and 2005. The series, which was not connected to the 1984 miniseries Secret Wars, served as a prelude to Secret Invasion. After Marvel’s 2006 “Civil War” storyline, Bendis helmed another Avengers revival, launching Mighty Avengers with Frank Cho in 2007.

STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS (2022)
[PARAMOUNT+]

(Reptilian Disclosure: The Gorn)

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is an American television series created by Akiva Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman, and Jenny Lumet for the streaming service Paramount+. It is the 11th Star Trek series and debuted in 2022 as part of Kurtzman’s expanded Star Trek Universe. A spin-off from Star Trek: Discovery, it follows Captain Christopher Pike and the crew of the starship USS Enterprise as they explore new worlds throughout the galaxy during the decade before Star Trek: The Original Series.

Anson Mount, Ethan Peck, and Rebecca Romijn respectively star as Pike, Spock, and Number One, all characters from The Original Series. These actors were cast in the roles in 2019 for the second season of Discovery, and, after a positive fan response, Kurtzman expressed interest in bringing them back for a spin-off series. Development began by March 2020 and it was officially ordered in May. The lead cast, title, and creative team were confirmed, with Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers as showrunners. Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia, Babs Olusanmokun, and Bruce Horak also star. Some of those actors also play younger versions of Original Series characters. The series is produced by CBS Studios in association with Secret Hideout, Weed Road Pictures, H M R X Productions, and Roddenberry Entertainment. Filming took place at CBS Stages Canada in Mississauga, Ontario. The showrunners chose to return to the episodic storytelling of The Original Series rather than Discovery‘s more serialized approach.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds premiered on Paramount+ on May 5, 2022, and its 10-episode first season ran through July 7. A second season is in production and is expected to premiere in 2023. The series has received positive reviews for its episodic storytelling and cast. It was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award and several other awards.

THE GORN
(Reptilian Alien Species, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds)

The Gorn were a warp-capable, bipedal reptilian species. They were organized in the Gorn Hegemony.

Biology

Gorn were a cold-blooded species, with green, rubbery skin, red blood, and an average height of approximately two meters. They tended to be many times stronger than most humanoids, albeit slower and less agile but with greater stamina and, like most cold-blooded species, preferred warmer temperatures. The Gorn had at least two genders: male and female. Despite being reptilian, Gorn females had what appeared to be mammary glands, which were generally found on mammals. (TOS: “Arena”; ENT: “In a Mirror, Darkly, Part II”; LD: “Veritas”, et al.) Gorn could survive exposure to the vacuum of space. (ENT: “In a Mirror, Darkly, Part II”)

Some Humans had an instinctive revulsion to the Gorn, as they were a type of reptile, and thought them primitive or unintelligent. This was unwise, as the Gorn were at least as intelligent as Humans.

Gorn ears were simple holes on the sides of their skulls, while their mouths boasted an impressive array of sharp teeth and their hands and feet possessed vicious claws. In the mirror universe, Phlox quipped that the Gorn were comparable to that of the extinct Velociraptor, based on one Gorn’s size and bite radius. (ENT: “In a Mirror, Darkly, Part II”) Some Gorn displayed eyes that were silvery and faceted, much like the compound eyes of insects, while others had typical humanoid eyes complete with pupils.

They also possessed incredible durability and were able to take an extreme amount of punishment. During a skirmish between Captain James T. Kirk and a Gorn captain, Kirk hurled a boulder at his opponent, only for it to bounce off the Gorn’s skin. Later, he caused a giant boulder to roll down a mountain and hit the Gorn captain. Though this temporarily stunned him, he was not injured. Kirk finally managed to wound and disable the Gorn with a primitive cannon comprised of rope-wrapped bamboo as a barrel, with raw diamonds as projectiles and a homemade gunpowder mixture as propellant. The Official Story

(TOS: “Arena”)

Life cycle

The Gorn hatched from parasitic eggs that incubated inside humanoid hosts. The maturation cycle varied depending on the species of the host, lasting months within an Orion but days within a Human. When ready, the hatchlings or younglings would rip their way violently from the body of their host.

Newly emerged Gorn were white in color; they became green as they fed voraciously and grew rapidly in size, molting their skin in the process. The hatchlings were quadrupedal and exceptionally fast and strong. They were uncontrollably aggressive toward other lifeforms and even members of their own species, fighting each other for dominance, which ensured that only the strongest and smartest survived. Even before they were fully mature, the hatchlings developed ducts by their mouths that enabled them to spit venom, which not only blinded their prey but also infected additional hosts with eggs. Because of their biological makeup both eggs and hatchlings were invisible to sensors. Despite their bestial nature, the hatchlings were highly intelligent and could prevent themselves from being sensed telepathically – evolutionary advantages that made them dangerous hunters.

The Gorn maintained breeding planets where they deposited sentient beings to be used as breeding sacs or hunted as food by the hatchlings. Adult Gorn periodically returned to the planets to harvest their young. (SNW: “Memento Mori”, “All Those Who Wander”)

Gorn pregnancies could result in as many as eight children, who were known for biting directly after birth. Caesarean sections might be indicated. (Star Trek Into Darkness)

(E9 Review! Gorn Again!)

History and culture

Of the Gorn, Orion privateer Harrad-Sar said in 2154, “The less said about them, the better“. However, he did concede that the Gorn brewed the finest meridor in the five systems. (ENT: “Bound”)

In 2256, Captain Gabriel Lorca had a Gorn skeleton in a USS Discovery laboratory. (DIS: “Context Is for Kings”)

Although unconfirmed at the time, the first encounter between the Humans and the Gorn occurred in the 2230s or 2240s, when the colony ship SS Puget Sound was captured and the entire ship’s complement was deposited on a planetary nursery. According to La’an Noonien-Singh’s accounts, the Gorn would eat some of their captives alive, while other captives would have their bodies slit open and used as “breeding sacks,” and some captives would be hunted as a sport before being fed to infant Gorn. In accordance with some sort of ritual, the final survivor would be spared, only to be placed in a life raft and abandoned in space. The survivor was not expected to live. (SNW: “Strange New Worlds”)

Lt. Noonien-Singh explained to Captain Pike that there had in fact been multiple contacts with the Gorn by 2259 – including the attack on Finibus III that the Enterprise dealt with in that year – but they hardly ever left survivors and were therefore still listed as never officially encountered. (SNW: “Memento Mori”) That same year, the USS Peregrine fell victim to Gorn hatchlings that unexpectedly emerged from refugees rescued by the crew. The hatchlings were neutralized by a landing party from the Enterprise. (SNW: “All Those Who Wander”)

Lt. Noonien-Singh, who had survived being hunted on one of their planetary nurseries, described the Gorn as “plain evil” and impossible to empathize with or come to an understanding with them, unrelenting when they hunt. Gorn considered warm-blooded species their prey. They employed ambush tactics and used injured prey as bait to lure in more. For example, they would allow a group of survivors to escape while attacking a Federation colony so they would call for help and bring in more prospective prey. They were even willing to sacrifice one of their own (or even one of their ships) to force their prey to reveal itself while it was hiding from them. Gorn were also willing to kill their own if they became weak or one of their ships became compromised by an enemy, making sure only the strongest survived. (SNW: “Memento Mori”)

The Gorn’s first contact with the prime reality Federation took place in 2267, when the Gorn attacked, with impunity, the Federation colony and outpost on Cestus III. The Gorn saw the strike as a preemptive move, since they regarded the Cestus system as part of their territory. The USS Enterprise pursued a Gorn starship from Cestus III into a previously unexplored region of the galaxy, near 2466 PM. There, both starships were immobilized by the Metrons, who transported Captain Kirk and the Gorn captain to a planet’s surface where the two captains were instructed to settle their differences in a “contest… of ingenuity against ingenuity, brute strength against brute strength.” Although the Gorn captain was physically stronger than Kirk, Kirk was able to construct a makeshift cannon out of materials on the planet’s surface and defeat the Gorn. When Kirk showed mercy to his defeated opponent, the Metrons sent both captains back to their respective ships and transported the Enterprise out of the area. (TOS: “Arena”)

The Gorn made first contact with the Federation at least eight years earlier in the alternate reality. (Star Trek Into Darkness)

While on the Enterprise in 2268, Benjamin Sisko admitted to Jadzia Dax that he would like to ask Kirk about the fight with the Gorn captain during this encounter. (DS9: “Trials and Tribble-ations”)

A Gorn served on the ruling council of the pocket dimension Elysia, in the late 23rd century. It is unknown how long members of his species had been trapped in that universe. (TAS: “The Time Trap”)

Star Trek:
Strange New Worlds (2022)

The Official Story

STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS
(Season 1, 2022)

The first season of the American television series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds follows Captain Christopher Pike and the crew of the USS Enterprise in the 23rd century as they explore new worlds and carry out missions throughout the galaxy during the decade before Star Trek: The Original Series. The season was produced by CBS Studios in association with Secret Hideout, Weed Road Pictures, H M R X Productions, and Roddenberry Entertainment, with Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers serving as showrunners.

Anson Mount, Ethan Peck, and Rebecca Romijn respectively star as Pike, Spock, and Number One, along with Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia, Babs Olusanmokun, and Bruce Horak. Development on a spin-off series from Star Trek: Discovery began by January 2020, with Mount, Romijn, and Peck reprising their roles, and it was officially ordered in May. The showrunners chose to return to the episodic storytelling of The Original Series rather than Discovery‘s more serialized approach. The writers and directors focused on giving each episode a different genre and tone. Filming took place at CBS Stages Canada in Mississauga, Ontario, from February to July 2021, with additional filming in New Mexico. Many of the regular actors and several guest stars portray younger versions of characters from The Original Series in the season.

The season premiered on the streaming service Paramount+ on May 5, 2022, and ran for 10 episodes until July 7. It was estimated to have high viewership and audience demand, becoming the most watched Paramount+ original Star Trek series. It also received positive reviews from critics for its episodic storytelling and cast. The season was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award and several other awards, and was named on multiple best of 2022 lists. A second season was announced in January 2022.

Writing

One of Goldsman’s first ideas was to feature the Gorn, a lizard-like alien species introduced in the Original Series episode “Arena”, as a recurring adversary for the season. Kurtzman was excited to use modern visual effects and puppetry to make the species feel “vivid and scary” compared to the “guy in a rubber suit” from “Arena”. The writers discussed ways to incorporate the Gorn without contradicting the fact that the characters in “Arena”, which is set around seven years after the events of this season, have not seen the species before. Perez explained that their goal for the series was to not “undo people’s experience with The Original Series, but if we can manage it, perhaps to give us an interesting perspective to consider that lines up with the original stories”. Specifically discussing the line “I face the creature the Metrons called a Gorn” spoken by William Shatner’s James T. Kirk in “Arena”, Perez explained that “maybe Kirk has never seen them, he could even be one of those people who still doubts the stories, or maybe even he has seen them and they don’t look the same”. Some of the ways that the series attempts to maintain continuity include featuring the Gorn in the backstory of La’an Noonien-Singh, a character who does not appear in The Original Series; not actually showing them in “Memento Mori” when Gorn starships are seen; and only showing baby Gorn in “All Those Who Wander”. Perez researched submarine films in an effort to replicate the feeling of the Original Series episode “Balance of Terror” for “Memento Mori”, while “All Those Who Wander” is a horror-themed episode inspired by the films Alien (1979), The Thing (1982), Gremlins (1984), and Predator (1987). Perez said Alien was an especial influence on the episode because it was “hard not to draw the comparison when writing a ‘horror story in space'”, and this is primarily seen in the way that baby Gorn grow inside host bodies and burst out of them like the Xenomorphs from that franchise.

Original Airdate: May 26, 2022

The Enterprise attempts to deliver a nuclear-powered air filter to a Federation colony but finds many of the colonists dead. Security chief La’an Noonien-Singh helps evacuate the survivors and recognizes the situation as a Gorn trap; she is the only survivor of a Gorn attack in her childhood. A Gorn ship attacks and does significant damage to Enterprise. M’Benga and nurse Christine Chapel resort to 21st-century medicine to treat the wounded when their equipment goes offline. The crew lure the Gorn ship into the atmosphere of a brown dwarf near a black hole, where both ships’ sensors and shields are useless. Spock figures out a way to track the Gorn ship and they destroy it, but three more Gorn ships arrive. One is crushed by the pressure of the brown dwarf’s atmosphere. Spock mind melds with Noonien-Singh to learn about the Gorn’s communication system, and they use this to trick one ship to fire on the other. Enterprise then warps around the black hole, temporarily disappearing, and ejects the destabilizing air filter which explodes and convinces the remaining Gorn ship that Enterprise is destroyed.

1×09 – “All Those Who Wander”

Directed by: Christopher J. Byrne

Written by: Davy Perez

Original Airdate: June 30, 2022

The Enterprise is en route to Deep Space K-7 when it receives another priority assignment to investigate the missing USS Peregrine. While Enterprise continues to K-7, Pike leads an away team to an ice planet where they find the grounded Peregrine. Hemmer and Uhura restore the ship’s systems while Pike learns that it was carrying three refugees. One was infected with Gorn eggs which hatched, and the hatchlings burst from his body and attacked the crew. Pike’s team finds the other two refugees to be the only survivors. One of them, Buckley, is also infected with Gorn eggs, and the hatchlings burst out. They attack the team, but they also fight each other until only the strongest hatchling is left. The team form a successful plan to kill the hatchling using cold temperatures from the ship’s environment controls, but not before Hemmer is infected. He encourages Uhura to remain in Starfleet before throwing himself from the ship so he will die in the cold along with the Gorn inside him. After the crew mourn Hemmer, Noonien-Singh takes a leave of absence to help the last refugee find her family.

The Official Story

EXPANSION OF THE STAR TREK UNIVERSE
(2017+)

CBS turned down several proposals in the mid-2000s to restart the franchise on the small screen. Proposals included pitches from film director Bryan Singer, Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski, and Trek actors Jonathan Frakes and William Shatner. While CBS was not creating new Star Trek for network television, the ease of access to Star Trek content on new streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video introduced a new set of fans to the franchise. CBS eventually sought to capitalize on this trend, and brought the franchise back to the small screen with the series Star Trek: Discovery to help launch and draw subscribers to its streaming service CBS All Access. Discovery’s first season premiered on September 24, 2017. While Discovery is shown in the United States exclusively on Paramount+ (formerly CBS All Access), for its first three seasons, Netflix, in exchange for funding the production costs of the show, owned the international screening rights for the show. This Netflix distribution and production deal ended right before the fourth season premiere of Discovery in November 2021. Discovery has since been exclusive to Paramount Global owned platforms.

In June 2018, after becoming sole showrunner of Discovery, Kurtzman signed a five-year overall deal with CBS Television Studios to expand the Star Trek franchise beyond Discovery to several new series, miniseries, and animated series. Kurtzman wanted to “open this world up” and create multiple series set in the same universe but with their own “unique storytelling and distinct cinematic feel”, an approach that he compared to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, the franchise would not tell a single story across multiple series, allowing audiences to watch each series without having to see all of the others. CBS and Kurtzman refer to this expanded franchise as the Star Trek Universe. In October 2020, Kurtzman stated that Star Trek series have been planned through 2027. Kurtzman cautioned that this was a preliminary plan, but it was necessary to plan so far out due to the long production schedules for each series.

The second series of the expansion of the Star Trek Universe, Star Trek: Picard, features Patrick Stewart reprising the character Jean-Luc Picard from The Next Generation. Picard premiered on CBS All Access on January 23, 2020. Unlike Discovery, Amazon Prime Video streams Picard internationally. CBS has also released two seasons of Star Trek: Short Treks, a series of standalone mini-episodes which air between Discovery and Picard seasons. A new live-action series, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, a spinoff of the second season of Discovery and prequel to the original series, premiered on May 5, 2022. Lower Decks, an animated adult comedy series, was released on August 6, 2020 on CBS All Access. Another animated series, Star Trek: Prodigy, premiered on the rebranded service Paramount+ first on October 28, 2021, and on December 17, 2021 on Nickelodeon. Prodigy is the first Star Trek series to specifically target younger audiences, and is the franchise’s first fully computer animated series.

Paramount Global announced in February 2021 that the Star Trek Universe would be available on Paramount+, including Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks, Prodigy, and Strange New Worlds. The service’s Executive Vice President of Development and Programming, Julie McNamara, said they were unlikely to expand the slate of Star Trek series until one of these five shows ended, which could happen when a series’ story runs its course or a lead actor’s contract expires. McNamara hoped to release a new season of Star Trek each quarter. Discussing the next phase of the franchise, Kurtzman said several projects were in development and the success of Prodigy could lead to more young audience-focused series. He added that future live-action series would likely explore new parts of the Star Trek franchise’s timeline in a similar way to Discovery‘s jump to the far future in its third season. Kurtzman also felt there would be opportunities for future series to be associated to other Paramount Global brands such as BET and Showtime, similar to Prodigy being developed for Nickelodeon. Monthly meetings with the showrunners of each new series are held to allow coordination between the different series and ensure that “they’re not stepping on each other’s toes” by using the same elements of the universe, according to Kurtzman.

It was released on February 14, 2014. He also directed the horror thriller film Stephanie (2017) with Frank Grillo in the leading role. He co-wrote and produced the film adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series, released on August 4, 2017, which was one of Goldsman’s post-Apotheosis films.

In June 2015, Paramount Pictures announced that Goldsman would head a team of writers and filmmakers to create a multifilm cinematic universe branching out from Hasbro’s Transformers franchise. In 2017, his Weed Road company was signed with Paramount.

Goldsman was revealed in September 2018 to have been on the writing staff for Star Trek: Picard, revolving around the later years of the character of Jean-Luc Picard.

In 2020, Goldsman was revealed to be the creator and showrunner of the forthcoming CBS series, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Alex Kurtzman

DESTROYER OF STAR TREK

The Official Story

ALEX KURTZMAN
(Co-Creator & Executive Producer
of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds)

Alexander Hilary Kurtzman (born September 7, 1973) is an American filmmaker. He is best known for his work on the Star Trek franchise since 2009, co-writing the scripts to Transformers (2007), Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Star Trek (2009), Star Trek Into Darkness (2013), and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) with his writing and producing partner Roberto Orci, and directing and co-writing The Mummy (2017). He made his directorial debut with People Like Us (2012), co-written by him, Orci, and Jody Lambert from a story by him.

Kurtzman is known, alongside Orci, for frequently collaborating with Michael Bay and J.J. Abrams, as well as co-creating the more recent Star Trek shows, including Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Career

Kurtzman first teamed with Orci on the syndicated series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, for the television unit of Pacific Renaissance Pictures, then operating out of Universal International. After they produced several storylines to cope with the absence of lead actor Kevin Sorbo following a stroke that Sorbo had suffered during the fourth season, Kurtzman and Orci, both aged 24, were placed in charge of the show. They moved into films after they were asked to rewrite Michael Bay’s The Island. The film earned nearly $163 million at the worldwide box office, on a budget of $126 million, which was enough of a success that they were brought in to write Bay’s Transformers, which earned $710 million. Though The Island, Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen were not particularly well received by critics, the three films earned a combined $1.7 billion. They co-created the Fox TV series Fringe in 2008 along with J. J. Abrams. After the pilot, Kurtzman served as consulting producer on the show for the remainder of its run. They then co-wrote the 2009 film Star Trek.

In 2011, Forbes magazine described Orci and Kurtzman as “Hollywood’s Secret Weapons” as, over the course of the previous six years, their films had grossed a combined total of over $3 billion at the box office. The partnership also wrote People Like Us, originally known as Welcome to People, which was Kurtzman’s theatrical directorial debut.

Kurtzman has frequently worked with a tight-knit group of film professionals which include J. J. Abrams, Damon Lindelof, Adam Horowitz, Roberto Orci, Edward Kitsis, Andre Nemec, Josh Appelbaum, Jeff Pinkner, and Bryan Burk. In April 2014, both Orci and Kurtzman confirmed to Variety that they would no longer work together on film projects; they added that they would still work together—but only on television projects.

In 2018, Kurtzman signed a new five-year deal with CBS Television Studios to oversee and expand the Star Trek franchise on television, including serving as executive producer on Star Trek: Discovery (which he also co-showruns with Michelle Paradise), Star Trek: Short Treks, Star Trek: Picard, and Star Trek: Lower Decks.

In August 2021, Kurtzman and his production company Secret Hideout extended their overall deal with CBS Studios through 2026.

Secret Hideout is a film and television production company founded in 2014 by Alex Kurtzman. It is notable for the recent incarnations of the Star Trek franchise with Roddenberry Entertainment.

History

In 2014, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci announced that they would dissolve the partnership in motion pictures in order to focus solely on television.

Later that year, the company signed a three-year production deal with Universal Pictures to produce its feature films. Secret Hideout’s first film was The Mummy. They hired Jeb Brody, who was formerly an employee of Focus Features, and Bobby Cohen, who was a former K/O Paper Products staffer, to join the company, along with Kim Rosen, who served as head of digital and interactive.

In 2016, it was announced that Roberto Orci was not attached to CBS All Access’ revival of Star Trek: Discovery and that Kurtzman had signed a new deal with CBS Television Studios to produce Discovery along with Salvation. They hired former K/O staffers Heather Kadin and Aaron Baiers to join the company to manage its TV shows.

In 2018, they signed a new deal with CBS Television Studios to expand the Star Trek franchise with new incarnations.

In 2019, Robyn Johnson was hired as a development executive for Secret Hideout.

In 2021, Kurtzman and Secret Hideout extended their overall deal with CBS Studios through 2026. Baiers was also promoted to President of Television in late 2021, following Kadin’s departure from the company.

The Official Story

ROD RODDENBERRY
(Executive Producer of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds)

Eugene WesleyRodRoddenberry Jr. (born February 5, 1974) is an American television producer and the chief executive officer of Roddenberry Entertainment. He is the son of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry and Majel Barrett and is an executive producer on Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Lower Decks, Star Trek: Prodigy and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Career

In 2001, Roddenberry became chief executive officer of Roddenberry Entertainment, which builds upon his father’s work, and develops multimedia science fiction properties including comics, television and film projects.

In mid-2009, the Los Angeles Times reported that Roddenberry approved of the 2009 Star Trek film by J.J. Abrams. Roddenberry opined that the producers and writers “made Star Trek cool again” with the film.

In 2010, Roddenberry, an avid scuba diver since 1993, founded the Roddenberry Dive Team, to allow people “to embark on undersea experiences and discover the diversity beneath the ocean.” Roddenberry leads the dive team in its exploration of underwater worlds and hopes to inspire stewardship of the world’s oceans. Roddenberry, who holds a Divemaster certification, has led or participated in more than 1,000 dives from exotic locations around the world.

In October 2011, the Roddenberry Foundation, which was founded by Rod Roddenberry, made its largest gift of $5 million to the J. David Gladstone Institutes in San Francisco to establish the Roddenberry Center for Stem Cell Biology and Medicine. The Roddenberry Foundation believes that “the center’s innovative technology that converts adult skin cells into life-changing stem cells will radically advance the fight against Alzheimer’s and heart disease.”

Roddenberry started to become directly involved in the Star Trek franchise in 2016 when he signed on as an executive producer of the TV series Star Trek: Discovery.

(Original Network, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds)

Paramount+ is an American subscription video on-demand service owned by Paramount Global. The service’s content is drawn primarily from the libraries of CBS Media Ventures (including CBS Studios), Paramount Media Networks (formerly Viacom Media Networks and ViacomCBS Domestic Media Networks), and Paramount Pictures, while also including original series and films, live streaming sports coverage, and in the U.S., live streaming of local CBS broadcast stations.

The service was first launched in the United States on October 28, 2014, as CBS All Access; the service initially focused on the live streaming of CBS programming from its local affiliates, as well as on-demand access to CBS programs and library content. The service began to expand into original programming in 2016, beginning with spin-offs of CBS programs such as Big Brother, The Good Fight, and the new Star Trek television series Star Trek: Discovery. The service also began to expand into other markets, including Canada and Australia (the latter in conjunction with CBS’s recently acquired Network 10).

In November 2019, CBS merged back into Viacom to form ViacomCBS (now Paramount Global); over 2020, plans were announced for content from Viacom Media Networks brands (including Comedy Central, MTV and Nickelodeon, among others) and Paramount Pictures to be integrated into CBS All Access, wider international expansion and a larger slate of original programming, and to eventually relaunch the service to reflect its wider scope. In September 2020, it was officially announced that the service would rebrand as Paramount+ in 2021, taking its name from the Paramount Pictures film studio.

The rebranding took effect on March 4, 2021, concurrent with wider expansion into Latin America, and later Europe. The service is also available in all U.S. territories, except for Puerto Rico. The service was launched in South Korea, as a content hub, on June 16, 2022, and launched in the United Kingdom and Ireland on June 21, 2022—a day earlier than expected—where it is also available on the Amazon Prime Video platform as well as its standalone app. An announcement about the launch of Paramount+ in Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria in the second half of the year was made in early 2022. Paramount+ has recently announced that the streaming service will be launched in France and French-speaking Switzerland on December 1, followed by its arrival in Germany, Austria and German-speaking Switzerland on December 8. Paramount+ was replaced in the Nordics by SkyShowtime, a joint venture with Comcast that also includes Sky Studios and NBCUniversal content. SkyShowtime will also be released in the rest of Europe in the coming months.

The Official Story

Captain Marvel (2019) – Skrulls Shapeshifting

HOLLYWOOD PREDICTIVE PROGRAMMING

Predictive Programming is the concept whereby conspirators plan a false flag operation, they hide references to it in the popular media before the atrocity takes place; when the event occurs, the public has softened up, and therefore passively accepts it rather than offering resistance or opposition.

Captain Marvel (2019) – Trailer

PLOT SUMMARY

For a long period of time, two alien races, the Kree and the Skrulls, have been in constant war with each other. Since the Kree are the ultimately superior species due to their technological advancements, the Skrulls have been numbered down significantly, to the brink of extinction. The Kree Empire continue to attempt to wipe the Skrulls from the face of the galaxy.

In 1995, in the height of the war, Vers resides on Hala. She has constant nightmares that haunt her, mainly consisting of an aircraft crash on a foreign peninsula, and watching a woman being murdered in front of her by an unknown Skrull assailant. She also remembers this as the earliest memory of when she gained her powers that allow her to shoot photon blasts out of her fists. Vers now trains with Yon-Rogg, aiming to become a member of Starforce. Although Yon-Rogg believes she is ready, the Supreme Intelligence, the artificial intelligence that rules the Kree Empire, figures otherwise but nonetheless allows Vers on the team, which consists of Minn-Erva, Korath, Bron-Char, and Att-Lass.

Yon-Rogg gives the Starforce a briefing, to rescue a Kree operative named Soh-Larr. Yon-Rogg informs the team that Soh-Larr has been captured on the planet Torfa. Yon-Rogg instructs the team to perform an incursion on the planet, so Vers and the rest of the Starforce land underwater and use their suits to reach the surface. Soon they realize that the Torfan natives are Skrulls, and that the mission was an ambush.

Vers is abducted by Skrull General Talos (disguised as Soh-Larr) who kidnaps her to a Skrull spacecraft, while the rest of the Starforce retreat. On the spacecraft, Talos gains access to Vers’ memories from various points in her life. Vers awakens just as Talos unlocks her memories, revealing that he wants information from her pertaining to a Light-Speed Engine. She orchestrates an escape, with Talos, Norex and two other Skrulls in pursuit, crash-landing to Planet C-53 (Earth).

Vers and the Skrulls crash in Los Angeles. While Talos and the Skrulls assume the role of surfers on a beach the next day, Vers crashes through the roof of a Blockbuster Video in the middle of a shopping plaza. After a brief communication with Yon-Rogg, learning she will be stranded on Earth for the next 22 hours, she attracts the attention of S.H.I.E.L.D. after a night-shift Los Angeles Police Department officer reports her in. Nick Fury and Phil Coulson led by Keller arrive at Los Angeles to interrogate Vers, dismissing her Kree authority and her claims that the Skrulls have arrived on Earth.

The interrogation is interrupted by one of the Skrulls: Vers gives chase to the Skrull on a subway train, but the Skrull evades her and escapes amid a crowd at a train station. Fury and Coulson give chase to Vers, but Fury realizes that Coulson was actually abandoned at the shopping complex, and the Coulson sitting passenger-side next to him is a second Skrull impostor. The two have a scuffle, and the Skrull is killed when their car crashes into oncoming traffic.

Vers utilizes a Skrull crystal containing her lost memories and begins recollecting them. She dresses in a civilian outfit she stole from a display and steals a motorcycle to drive to Pancho’s Bar in the nearby town of Rosamond. Fury and Keller, who at this point has been compromised by Talos, take possession of the deceased Skrull and while performing an autopsy, Keller authorizes Fury to work with Vers, and eventually hand her in S.H.I.E.L.D. custody. Fury finds Vers at the bar, and now fully convinced that the Skrulls are a threat, the two question each other to ensure that they are not Skrull impostors.

Fury takes her to the Joint Dark Energy Mission Facility in Nevada to confirm Vers’ claims of her origins on Earth. She learns that she was a fighter pilot for the United States Air Force alongside a fellow comrade, Maria Rambeau, both under the tutelage of Wendy Lawson for Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S.. Vers recognizes Lawson as the woman murdered in her dreams and later learns from Yon-Rogg that she was a Kree named Mar-Vell.

Fury reports their location to Keller and a posse of agents led by Keller arrive, including Coulson. Upon realizing that Keller had been compromised by Talos the whole time, Fury goes rogue with Vers; Coulson allows the two to escape. Motivated to seek answers from Rambeau, Fury, and Vers, accompanied by Goose, a cat who they encountered at the facility, hijack a Quadjet to the Rambeau Residence in New Orleans, Louisiana. Both Rambeau and her daughter Monica are surprised to see Vers still alive.

The two identify Vers as Carol Danvers, a fighter pilot who was seemingly killed with Lawson in a test flight gone awry. They also identify Goose as Lawson and Danvers’ pet. Talos and Norex arrive at the Rambeau Residence, only to negotiate a temporary alliance after Talos reveals that he was in possession of a black box from the plane crash. Talos reveals that Danvers has been deceived by the Kree and that the Skrulls are simply homeless refugees constantly on the run from the Kree, on the brink of extinction.

Upon hearing the recording from the black box, Danvers finally recollects the memory of what happened: The assassination was orchestrated by none other than Yon-Rogg, who had uncovered Mar-Vell’s deception. Mar-Vell instructed Danvers to destroy the energy core powering the light-speed engine, but in an attempt to destroy it, Danvers gained cosmic abilities after absorbing the energy from the exploding engine. With no recollection of her memories, Yon-Rogg was authorized by the Supreme Intelligence to train her into becoming a Kree operative.

Talos confides in Danvers that Mar-Vell was actually a Kree double-agent who was attempting to help the Skrulls by testing the light-speed engine, which can help them flee Kree occupation forever, and that the black box and Danvers’ memories contained the coordinates to a former laboratory cloaked in Earth’s orbit that Mar-Vell had used, containing the last of the Skrull refugees as well as the energy core that powered the engine.

The next day, Yon-Rogg arrives on Earth to confront Danvers. He quickly realizes that the Danvers he was communicating with was Norex, and swiftly executes him upon learning of the laboratory orbiting Earth, and learning that the source of the energy core is the Tesseract. Danvers, Fury, Talos, Maria, and Goose take the Quadjet to the laboratory, and Talos is reunited with his wife and daughter.

Danvers finds the Tesseract, but the Starforce ambush them and place Danvers under stasis to confront the Supreme Intelligence. In a final conversation with the Supreme Intelligence, Danvers removes the inhibitor that has been limiting her full power potential and engages in an all-out battle with the Starforce. Fury realizes that Goose is actually a Flerken, and witnesses her abilities firsthand after she swallows the Tesseract and several Kree soldiers (echoing an earlier scene where Talos expressed fear of Flerkens and insisted that Goose was not a cat). In a battle for the Tesseract, Danvers overpowers Korath, Bron-Char and Att-Lass while the Skrulls escape on the Quadjet with Rambeau and Fury. In the process, Talos is shot by Yon-Rogg, rendering him inoperable to fight.

In a rage, Yon-Rogg authorizes Ronan and the Accusers to dispatch Kree Ballistic Missiles at Earth to kill Danvers and the Skrulls. Danvers destroys the missiles and one of the Kree warships, prompting the Accusers to retreat. Minn-Erva, the last operable Starforce member, intercepts the Quadjet to the Mojave Desert, but Rambeau shoots her down. Yon-Rogg arrives on Earth, and challenges Danvers to a duel, but she instantly incapacitates him with a photon blast, and sends him back to Hala with a warning for the Supreme Intelligence, declaring war.

In the aftermath, Goose claws and blinds Fury’s left eye while his guard is down. The Skrulls take temporary shelter at the Rambeau Residence, where Talos begins to recover from his injuries. Before Danvers departs Earth with the Skrulls to find them a new home, she hands Fury a modified Transmitter Pager to call her in the event of an emergency. While drafting the Protector Initiative, Fury, upon learning that Danvers’ call sign was “Avenger” during her time in the Air Force, renames it to the Avengers Initiative in her honor.

In a mid-credits scene set in 2018, after Fury’s death in the Snap, several of the remaining Avengers (Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff, Bruce Banner and James Rhodes) analyze Fury’s retrieved pager at the New Avengers Facility, but the pager suddenly shuts down. As the group discuss trying to find out who Fury was trying to contact, Danvers herself appears asking where he is. In a post-credits scene, Goose regurgitates the Tesseract on Nick Fury’s desk, while he wasn’t in his office.

A History Of The Marvel Universe – Part 8
(Origin of the Skrulls)

FANTASTIC FOUR ISSUE #2 (JANUARY 1962)

(The Fantastic Four Meet the Skrulls from Outer Space!)

Synopsis

Part 1

The Thing attacks an oil platform off the Texas shore. The Invisible Girl steals a valuable gem from a jewelry store. The Human Torch melts a statue when a town unveils it. Mister Fantastic shuts down a power plant. These impostors meet afterward and reveal how they used their shape-shifting abilities and alien technology to perpetrate their misdeeds. They are Skrulls, and they plan on invading Earth. Fearing the Fantastic Four will stand in their way, these four agents want to ruin their reputation. The real Fantastic Four, in “an isolated hunting lodge,” hear the news with dismay.

Part 2

The United States Army surrounds the lodge. Wanted for the Skrulls’ crimes, the Fantastic Four surrender. They escape from cells specifically designed to hold them and hole up in one of their “many secret apartment hideouts”, in order to clear their names. They set a trap for the Skrulls by sending Johnny to sabotage a rocket launch, hoping it will draw them out. He melts through an unused gantry, avoids the army’s artillery and flames off behind a hangar. “Reed” and “Susan” pick him up and take him back to their hideout. A Fantasti-Flare out the window brings the rest of the team.

Part 3

A fight ensues and the Skrulls are taken, prisoner. The Fantastic Four steal the Skrulls’ rocket ship and find their mother-ship in Earth orbit. Posing as the Skrull agents, they trick the captain into believing that Earth is too dangerous to invade by passing off images from Journey Into Mystery and Strange Tales as real. Reed volunteers to stay behind and remove any trace of the Skrulls’ presence on Earth. Convinced his army would be slaughtered, the captain calls off the invasion and awards Reed a medal for bravery. On the way home the Fantastic Four passes through the cosmic rays again, causing the Thing to briefly return to human form.

Part 4

Once back on Earth the Fantastic Four clear their names by proving the existence of Skrulls to the military. The remaining three Skrulls transform into cows at Reed’s instructions, and Reed hypnotizes them into believing they are real cows. They are left in a field where they can live out their lives.

Stan Lee

The Official Story

STAN LEE
(Creator, The Skrulls)

Stan Lee (born Stanley Martin Lieber; December 28, 1922 – November 12, 2018) was an American comic book writer, editor, publisher, and producer. He rose through the ranks of a family-run business called Timely Publications which would later become Marvel Comics. He was the primary creative leader for two decades, leading its expansion from a small division of a publishing house to a multimedia corporation that dominated the comics and film industries.

In collaboration with others at Marvel—particularly co-writers/artists Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko—he co-created iconic characters, including superheroes Spider-Man, the X-Men, Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, Ant-Man, the Wasp, the Fantastic Four, Black Panther, Daredevil, Doctor Strange, the Scarlet Witch, and Black Widow. These and other characters’ introductions in the 1960s pioneered a more naturalistic approach in superhero comics, and in the 1970s Lee challenged the restrictions of the Comics Code Authority, indirectly leading to changes in its policies. In the 1980s he pursued the development of Marvel properties in other media, with mixed results.

Following his retirement from Marvel in the 1990s, Lee remained a public figurehead for the company, and frequently made cameo appearances in films and television shows based on Marvel characters on which he received an executive producer credit, which allowed him to become the highest grossing person in film of all time. He continued independent creative ventures into his 90s until his death in 2018. Lee was inducted into the comic book industry’s Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame in 1995. He received the NEA’s National Medal of Arts in 2008.

Marvel Comics

In the late 1950s, DC Comics editor Julius Schwartz revived the superhero archetype and experienced significant success with an updated version of the Flash, and later with the Justice League of America super-team. In response, publisher Martin Goodman assigned Lee to come up with a new superhero team. Lee’s wife suggested that he experiment with stories he preferred, since he was planning on changing careers and had nothing to lose.

Lee acted on the advice, giving his superheroes a flawed humanity, a change from the ideal archetypes typically written for preteens. Before this, most superheroes had been idealistically perfect people with no serious, lasting problems. Lee introduced complex, naturalistic characters who could have bad tempers, fits of melancholy, and vanity; they bickered amongst themselves, worried about paying their bills and impressing girlfriends, got bored or sometimes even physically ill.

The first superheroes Lee and artist Jack Kirby created together were the Fantastic Four. The team’s immediate popularity led Lee and Marvel’s illustrators to produce a cavalcade of new titles. Again working with Kirby, Lee co-created the Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, and the X-Men; with Bill Everett, Daredevil; and with Steve Ditko, Doctor Strange and Marvel’s most successful character, Spider-Man, all of whom lived in a thoroughly shared universe. Lee and Kirby gathered several of their newly created characters together into the team title The Avengers and would revive characters from the 1940s such as the Sub-Mariner and Captain America. Years later, Kirby and Lee would contest who deserved credit for creating The Fantastic Four.

Comics historian Peter Sanderson wrote that in the 1960s:

DC was the equivalent of the big Hollywood studios: After the brilliance of DC’s reinvention of the superhero … in the late 1950s and early 1960s, it had run into a creative drought by the decade’s end. There was a new audience for comics now, and it wasn’t just the little kids that traditionally had read the books. The Marvel of the 1960s was in its own way the counterpart of the French New Wave… Marvel was pioneering new methods of comics storytelling and characterization, addressing more serious themes, and in the process keeping and attracting readers in their teens and beyond. Moreover, among this new generation of readers were people who wanted to write or draw comics themselves, within the new style that Marvel had pioneered, and push the creative envelope still further.

Lee’s revolution extended beyond the characters and storylines to the way in which comic books engaged the readership and built a sense of community between fans and creators. He introduced the practice of regularly including a credit panel on the splash page of each story, naming not just the writer and penciller but also the inker and letterer. Regular news about Marvel staff members and upcoming storylines was presented on the Bullpen Bulletins page, which (like the letter columns that appeared in each title) was written in a friendly, chatty style. Lee remarked that his goal was for fans to think of the comics creators as friends, and considered it a mark of his success on this front that, at a time when letters to other comics publishers were typically addressed “Dear Editor”, letters to Marvel addressed the creators by first name (e.g., “Dear Stan and Jack”). Lee recorded messages to the newly formed Merry Marvel Marching Society fan club in 1965. By 1967, the brand was well-enough ensconced in popular culture that a March 3 WBAI radio program with Lee and Kirby as guests was titled “Will Success Spoil Spiderman [sic]”.

Throughout the 1960s, Lee scripted, art-directed and edited most of Marvel’s series, moderated the letters pages, wrote a monthly column called “Stan’s Soapbox”, and wrote endless promotional copy, often signing off with his trademark motto, “Excelsior!” (which is also the New York state motto). To maintain his workload and meet deadlines, he used a system that was used previously by various comic-book studios, but due to Lee’s success with it, became known as the “Marvel Method”. Typically, Lee would brainstorm a story with the artist and then prepare a brief synopsis rather than a full script. Based on the synopsis, the artist would fill the allotted number of pages by determining and drawing the panel-to-panel storytelling. After the artist turned in penciled pages, Lee would write the word balloons and captions, and then oversee the lettering and coloring. In effect, the artists were co-plotters, whose collaborative first drafts Lee built upon.

Following Ditko’s departure from Marvel in 1966, John Romita Sr. became Lee’s collaborator on The Amazing Spider-Man. Within a year, it overtook Fantastic Four to become the company’s top seller. Lee and Romita’s stories focused as much on the social and college lives of the characters as they did on Spider-Man’s adventures. The stories became more topical, addressing issues such as the Vietnam War, political elections, and student activism. Robbie Robertson, introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man #51 (August 1967) was one of the first African-American characters in comics to play a serious supporting role. In the Fantastic Four series, the lengthy run by Lee and Kirby produced many acclaimed storylines as well as characters that have become central to Marvel, including the Inhumans and the Black Panther, an African king who would be mainstream comics’ first black superhero.

The story frequently cited as Lee and Kirby’s finest achievement is the three-part “Galactus Trilogy” that began in Fantastic Four #48 (March 1966), chronicling the arrival of Galactus, a cosmic giant who wanted to devour the planet, and his herald, the Silver Surfer. Fantastic Four #48 was chosen as #24 in the 100 Greatest Marvels of All Time poll of Marvel’s readers in 2001. Editor Robert Greenberger wrote in his introduction to the story that “As the fourth year of the Fantastic Four came to a close, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby seemed to be only warming up. In retrospect, it was perhaps the most fertile period of any monthly title during the Marvel Age.” Comics historian Les Daniels noted that “[t]he mystical and metaphysical elements that took over the saga were perfectly suited to the tastes of young readers in the 1960s”, and Lee soon discovered that the story was a favorite on college campuses. Lee and artist John Buscema launched The Silver Surfer series in August 1968.

The following year, Lee and Gene Colan created the Falcon, comics’ first African-American superhero, in Captain America #117 (September 1969). In 1971, Lee indirectly helped reform the Comics Code. The U. S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare had asked Lee to write a comic-book story about the dangers of drugs and Lee conceived a three-issue subplot in The Amazing Spider-Man #96–98 (cover-dated May–July 1971), in which Peter Parker’s best friend becomes addicted to prescription drugs. The Comics Code Authority refused to grant its seal because the stories depicted drug use; the anti-drug context was considered irrelevant. With Goodman’s cooperation and confident that the original government request would give him credibility, Lee had the story published without the seal. The comics sold well and Marvel won praise for its socially conscious efforts. The CCA subsequently loosened the Code to permit negative depictions of drugs, among other new freedoms.

Lee also supported using comic books to provide some measure of social commentary about the real world, often dealing with racism and bigotry. “Stan’s Soapbox”, besides promoting an upcoming comic book project, also addressed issues of discrimination, intolerance, or prejudice.

In 1972, Lee stopped writing monthly comic books to assume the role of publisher. His final issue of The Amazing Spider-Man was #110 (July 1972) and his last Fantastic Four was #125 (August 1972).

THE OUTRIDERS
(Reptilian Alien Species, Avengers: Infinity War)

The Outriders are a mindless species subservient to Thanos and the Black Order. They were used to fight in the Battle of Wakanda and the Battle of Earth.

Characteristic Traits

The Outriders are characterized by their leathery black and yellow skin. Most of the Outriders have four, clawed arms, although some have been shown to have six. Unique to the latter is a pair of pointed protrusions that spread out from their heads. They can adopt both bipedal and quadrupedal postures to walk and run. Their faces lack any visible eyes, and their mouths are equipped with two rows of razor-sharp teeth. All Outriders have blue-colored blood.

The Outriders only follow basic commands that are given by Thanos and the Black Order. During the Battle of Wakanda, they constantly threw themselves against Wakanda’s force field, with most of them killing themselves in the process. This suggests that Outriders are mindless and operate solely on their bloodlust. Still, the Outriders have some semblance of intelligence and self-preservation, as some of them started fleeing in their dropships when they were losing, after all of their commanders were already dead.

The Outriders do not utilize advanced weaponry. However, they possess greater superhuman physical abilities, making them fearsome adversaries in battle. During the Battle of Wakanda, Steve Rogers struggled to fight a lone Outrider, whereas he had fewer problems fighting multiple Chitauri during the Battle of New York.

Avengers Infinity War: Who Are The Outriders?

History (Avengers: Infinity War)

Battle of Wakanda

In 2018, the Outriders were deployed by in Dropships to Earth, specifically to Wakanda. Several dropships were released from the Sanctuary II and were sent crashing down in and around Wakanda; the doors opened and the Outriders were unleashed upon the Wakandan plains.

Alongside Midnight and Cull Obsidian, the Outriders faced the Wakandan army and Steve Rogers’ Avengers faction, throwing themselves at the force field in an attempt to destroy it. Many were killed, but as they continued, the force field began to falter. When some begin to circle around the force field, T’Challa decided to let them through, prompting the aforementioned army to engage in the battle. After the Outriders began to overwhelm the Avengers and the Wakandans, Thor, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot arrived and greatly turned the tide of the battle.

Trivia

In the comics, the Outriders were a race of genetically engineered humanoid creatures with the purpose of serving their master until they die. Thanos used Outriders to find new planets inhabited by weak species he would conquer.

When designing the Outriders for Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel Studios found itself concerned that the creatures too closely resembled another Marvel Comics property, Venom, for which they didn’t have the rights. Marvel ended up making minor changes to the Outriders to prevent that from happening.

In the non-canon book Thanos: Titan Consumed it’s explained that the Outriders are a result of Thanos combining samples of DNA from the Chitauri, himself, and of various species that he killed.

Avengers: Infinity War (2018) – Trailer

PLOT SUMMARY

Deep in space, the Statesman has been attacked by the Sanctuary II, the ship of Thanos. Half of its passengers have been killed by the Black Order, the children of Thanos. One of them, Ebony Maw, announces that the survivors should rejoice in their defeat by Thanos. With Heimdall and Thor unable to even stand, Loki is brought before Thanos himself. Thor, Heimdall, and Loki soon find out that Thanos, wielding the Infinity Gauntlet already accommodating the Power Stone, had begun his quest of hunting down the Infinity Stones personally.

Thanos demands that Loki hand over the Tesseract, threatening to kill Thor if he doesn’t comply. Loki initially hesitates, to which Thanos responds by torturing Thor with the Power Stone. Eventually, Loki can no longer see his brother suffer and reveals the Tesseract – which he had retrieved from Odin’s Vault prior to Asgard’s destruction – much to Thor’s disappointment. However, Loki doesn’t hand it over, and buys sufficient time for Hulk to attack Thanos and save Thor from Thanos’ grasp. Unfortunately, Thanos quickly overpowers and subdues Hulk. Thor attempts to fight Thanos, only to be quickly defeated and immobilized in pieces of metal by Maw. With the Statesman’s surviving members helpless against the power of Thanos, Heimdall saves Hulk’s life by summoning the power of the Bifrost Bridge the last time and teleporting him to Earth and safe from harm.

In retaliation, Thanos kills Heimdall, leaving Thor in anguish. After this, the Tesseract – which had been left on the floor – is handed over to Thanos by Maw. Thanos crushes the Tesseract and inserts the Space Stone within it into his gauntlet. Now in possession of two stones, Thanos orders his children to invade Earth and retrieve both the Mind Stone and the Time Stone. Loki then suddenly interrupts by pretending to pledge loyalty to Thanos. As he does so, he commits the bold yet fatal action of trying to kill Thanos with a dagger.

Thanos sees through Loki’s attempt and foils him with his newly acquired stone, and proceeds to grab him by the neck. Thor only helplessly watches as Thanos breaks Loki’s neck before his very eyes. Thanos uses the Power Stone to destroy the Statesman while he and the Black Order teleport away, leaving Thor to die as he mourns over his brother’s dead body as the ship explodes around him.

Meanwhile, on Earth, Hulk crashes into the New York Sanctum via Bifrost and turns back into Bruce Banner, informing Doctor Strange and Wong about Thanos. Strange and Banner find Tony Stark, who is having a date with Pepper Potts, and bring him to the Sanctum as well. Strange, Wong, Banner, and Stark discuss the Infinity Stones, eventually surmising that Thanos is looking for both the Time Stone, held in the Eye of Agamotto owned by Strange, and the Mind Stone, kept by Vision in his forehead.

Banner insists that Thanos is the most formidable enemy they have ever faced, revealing that he was Loki’s sponsor during the Battle of New York and will wipe out half the universe if he completes the Infinity Gauntlet. Stark suggests simply destroying the Time Stone since they’ve got it on hand, but Strange refuses as he and Wong have pledged to protect it with their lives. Banner asks where Vision is, and Stark admits that he’s lost track of him and that Steve Rogers might know where he is. Stark brings Banner up to date with everything that happened since he left Earth; the Avengers have disbanded, and he is no longer on speaking terms with Rogers. Banner implores Stark to call Rogers, insisting that whatever happened between them doesn’t matter compared to what is coming. Convinced, Stark takes out the phone Rogers sent him after the Avengers Civil War and prepares to make the call.

Before he can, however, an ominous hum rings through the air, accompanied by a change in air flow. A massive, ring-shaped Q-Ship hovers above New York City, causing panic and fear in the streets. Strange manages to shut the ship’s engine off as Ebony Maw and another of Thanos’ children, the hulking Cull Obsidian, approach them. While Strange, Stark, Wong and Banner confront the invaders, the Q-Ship is witnessed from afar by Peter Parker, who rushes in to investigate. A turbulent battle erupts in the streets, but Banner finds himself unable to transform into Hulk, despite his best attempts.

As Wong fights Cull, trapping him in the Arctic with his Sling Ring, Ebony Maw, a fierce telekinetic, successfully abducts Strange, with Time Stone in tow. Unbeknownst to Maw, however, both Iron Man and Spider-Man – who is granted his Iron Spider Armor – manage to stow away in Maw’s Q-Ship. As Wong returns to the sanctum to protect it, Banner finds Stark’s phone and decides to call Rogers himself.

Having survived the vacuum of space after the Statesman’s blast, Thor is rescued by the Guardians of the Galaxy, who received the Asgardians’ distress call. They take him aboard the Benatar, where Thor tells of how Thanos killed half the Asgardians to obtain the Space Stone and decimated Xandar to obtain the Power Stone. Gamora recounts how Thanos traveled from planet to planet, killing half the population of each, and will do the same to the entire universe should he complete the Gauntlet by merely snapping his fingers.

They figure that Thanos will be headed to Knowhere in order to take the Reality Stone from the Collector. Thor decides to leave for Nidavellir, as he intends to ask Eitri to craft him a new weapon capable of defeating Thanos. Thor leaves with Rocket Raccoon and Groot while Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer and Mantis depart for Knowhere.

Meanwhile, Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive, two more of Thanos’ children, ambush Vision, who attempts to live a normal life with Wanda Maximoff in Scotland. Vision is deeply weakened in the attack, while Maximoff barely manages to hold her own against both assailants. However, reinforcements arrive in the form of Rogers, Falcon and Black Widow, who have been contacted and filled in by Banner. Together, they force Proxima Midnight and a heavily wounded Corvus Glaive to retreat before returning to the New Avengers Facility.

Remembering how Thanos destroyed half of her people and adopted her in the process, Gamora makes Quill promise that he will kill her if she gets captured by Thanos. Although Quill is reluctant, Gamora makes him promise and swear on his mother. He eventually agrees, and the two share a kiss. As they arrive on a deserted Knowhere, the Guardians of the Galaxy witness Thanos violently interrogating the Collector over the location of the Reality Stone. Unfortunately, the group makes too much noise and Thanos realizes their presence. Gamora goes on the offense, attacking and promptly defeating the Titan, who falls to the ground, seemingly killed.

However, the group discovers that Thanos has already acquired the Reality Stone, and has been using it to cast a massive illusion. He drops the illusion, revealing a burning Knowhere and himself, alive and well. Thanos had expected Gamora to come and fight him, and is aware that she is the only person who knows the location of the elusive Soul Stone. Thanos easily subdues Gamora and incapacitates Drax and Mantis. Quill aims to fire at Thanos’ head, but Gamora begs Quill to keep his promise and kill her, with Thanos pushing Gamora against the gun, inviting him to do so. Despite his heartbreak, Quill pulls the trigger, only for the gun to shoot harmless bubbles, thanks to the Reality Stone. Thanos then teleports away with Gamora.

Back at the facility, James Rhodes discusses recent events with Thaddeus Ross, who is outraged at Vision’s recent disappearance. Rhodes counters that Vision is only missing because of the Sokovia Accords, which even he now regrets signing. Rogers, Wilson, Romanoff, Vision, and Maximoff arrive, and Ross demands they all be arrested. Rhodes cuts his transmission off, an act which will likely end his military career, and greets his old teammates.

Banner emerges as well, sharing a brief reunion with everyone. After bringing everyone up to speed, Banner suggests calling in Hawkeye for help, but Romanoff explains that he as well as Scott Lang are unavailable, having surrendered themselves to the US government, making deals to be placed under house arrest with their families. Together, the team decides that the Mind Stone must be destroyed and that Maximoff is the only member powerful enough to do so. However, in order to destroy the stone without killing Vision, Rogers suggests traveling to Wakanda. In Wakanda, T’Challa and Okoye deliver a new vibranium arm to Bucky Barnes, who has recovered from his mental programming. They warn him that a battle may be coming as they are providing refuge to the Avengers who will undoubtedly be followed by Thanos’ children.

In Ebony Maw’s Q-Ship, Stark and Parker successfully rescue Strange by blowing a hole in the ship’s hull, fatally shooting Ebony Maw into space. While Strange advocates returning to Earth, Stark suggests keeping the course set on Titan in an effort to keep an element of surprise over Thanos. Strange agrees but warns Stark that he will have to protect the Time Stone, even if it means sacrificing him or Parker.

On the Sanctuary II, Gamora tells Thanos that she doesn’t know the location of the Soul Stone and calls her adoptive father insane for planning to exterminate half of all life in the universe, though Thanos insists on the righteousness of his ultimate desire for “perfect balance”. He informs Gamora that her home planet Zen-Whoberi has been thriving since he eradicated half of its population. As Thanos needs the Soul Stone to fulfill his goal, he reveals that Nebula is his prisoner. Thanos tortures Nebula in front of Gamora, slowly pulling her body apart. Unable to bear it, Gamora reveals that the Soul Stone is hidden on Vormir.

Meanwhile, Thor, Rocket Raccoon and Groot land in Nidavellir, where the forges have gone frozen and dark. They encounter Eitri, now the only remaining Dwarf on the forge, and he explains that Thanos ordered him to craft the Infinity Gauntlet, crippling the Dwarf afterward so he could never forge anything else. However, Thor convinces Eitri that, working together, they have the power to defeat Thanos. In order to do so, they plan on crafting a new weapon for Thor – Stormbreaker, a weapon that can summon the power of the Bifrost. On Sanctuary II, Nebula manages to free herself and sends a message to the Guardians of the Galaxy, imploring them to meet her on Titan.

Stark, Strange and Parker barely manage to land the Q-Ship on Titan’s surface, where they are immediately ambushed by the Guardians, who have mistaken them for Thanos’ minions. After a few tense moments where Quill believes Stark and his companions to be in league with Thanos, they all agree to work together. While the rest of the group tries to devise a plan, Strange uses the Time Stone to look into alternate futures. He then reports to his allies: out of the fourteen million six hundred and five visions of the future that he foresaw, they were victorious in only one alone.

Thanos and Gamora teleport to Vormir, where they are greeted by Red Skull, now acting as a keeper for the Soul Stone after being banished there by the Tesseract in 1945. Schmidt tells Thanos that he must sacrifice what he loves the most in order to obtain the stone. Gamora is sadly amused, as she believes that Thanos does not love anyone or anything, making him incapable of completing the sacrifice or fulfilling his plans. When she sees that he is crying, she is incredulous at first. Schmidt tells her he isn’t weeping for himself, but for her. Thanos sacrifices his daughter by throwing her from the cliff to her death and later awakes in possession of the Soul Stone.

Meanwhile, the Avengers take Vision to Wakanda, where they are greeted by T’Challa and Barnes. They ask Shuri if she can safely extract the Mind Stone from Vision and she confirms that she can, but that it will take some time. Maximoff is ordered to stand by at the operation table, ready to destroy the stone once it’s free. Moments later, massive drop ships land outside of Wakanda’s protective energy dome. Meanwhile, Thor and Rocket successfully revive the star core of Nidavellir, but due to the mechanisms of the forge being damaged, Thor is forced to risk his life, using his own body to hold the forge’s iris open.

As massive armies of Outriders led by Proxima Midnight and Cull Obsidian arrive in Wakanda, T’Challa gathers Dora Milaje, Wakandan Royal Guard, the Border Tribe and the Jabari Tribe led by M’Baku, accompanied by Rogers, Barnes, Wilson, Rhodes, Romanoff and Banner using a suit of Hulkbuster armor, to meet them, hoping to buy Shuri enough time to complete her work. At first, the Outriders blindly throw themselves against the protective energy dome surrounding Wakanda, with many perishing against the dome’s surface and only a few actually making it through.

However, once the Outriders begin to move around the edge of the dome, Banner alerts the team that the beasts could potentially flank them, gaining a clear path to Vision. T’Challa decides to partly open the barrier in an effort to keep the enemies in front of them. The strategy is effective, but at the cost of massive hordes of Outriders suddenly invading Wakanda, quickly starting a fierce battle.

While Thor and Rocket are able to break the ice that immobilizes the rings of Nidavellir’s forge, the mechanism that focuses the neutron star’s power is damaged. Thor exposes himself to the full power of the star, giving the forge enough time to melt the special metal needed to craft Stormbreaker. Thor is left near death, and while Eitri successfully molded the metal, the axe’s handle cannot be found. Groot sacrifices his left arm for the weapon’s handle, activating its powers and reviving Thor.

Although they are able to take down many of hostiles, the Avengers and Wakandan armies are quickly outnumbered and overrun by the Outriders. However, Thor arrives via Bifrost with Rocket and Groot, using Stormbreaker to turn the battle in favor of the defenders of Earth. He demands to have Thanos brought to him so he can enact his revenge.

Thanos arrives on Titan and is greeted by Strange. During a brief conversation with Strange, he reveals that Titan was his home and that overpopulation led it to ruin. Thanos had suggested that half the population be killed at random to save the planet, a suggestion which was obviously seen as insane. Thanos now believes himself to be merciful as he plans to simply snap his fingers after acquiring all six Infinity Stones and cause half the universe’s population to cease to exist without causing much pain, after which Thanos plans on simply resting.

Nevertheless, they engage Thanos in an intense battle but Thanos single-handedly repels the assaults of the Avengers, the Guardians, and Strange until Nebula arrives and distracts him. Eventually Strange, Parker and Drax manage to pin down Thanos’ limbs while Mantis uses her powers to put him to sleep. Although she fails and he remains half-conscious, he is still weakened enough that he is totally incapacitated allowing Stark to try and force the Gauntlet off Thanos’ hand. However, when Nebula deduces that Thanos has killed Gamora, Quill becomes enraged and attacks the Mad Titan, causing him to regain consciousness just as the Gauntlet was about to be taken off.

The fight turns decisively in Thanos’ favor as he unleashes the full might of the Infinity Stones upon his attackers, swiftly repelling them all. Thanos then confronts and overpowers Strange but realizes that Strange never used the Time Stone in the fight because Strange hid it. Before he can try to locate it, Iron Man attacks him, but is quickly outmatched and seriously wounded when Thanos stabs him in the stomach. As Thanos prepares to execute Stark, Strange agrees to hand over the Time Stone to Thanos in exchange for Stark being spared. Thanos agrees and inserts the Stone into the Gauntlet and departs to retrieve the last Stone. Stark asks Strange why he would sacrifice the Time Stone just to save him.

In Wakanda, the Black Order launches Threshers, massive siege weapons which lay waste on the battlefield, prompting Maximoff to join and save Romanoff and Okoye. However, what no one has realized is that Corvus Glaive has successfully infiltrated the lab where he knocks out Shuri and her guards before the extraction of the Mind Stone can be completed. Glaive then attempts to take the Mind Stone from Vision who flees on to the battlefield and attempts to fight back, but Corvus Glaive and Cull Obsidian overpower him.

Banner arrives and manages to kill Cull Obsidian despite still being unable to turn into Hulk while Rogers fights against Corvus Glaive. Meanwhile, despite holding her own against the combined forces of Maximoff, Romanoff and Okoye, Proxima Midnight is killed as well when Maximoff forces her into the path of a Thresher. Rogers is defeated, but Vision stabs Corvus Glaive with his own weapon from behind, killing him. With the Black Order defeated and the Outriders routed by Thor, the Avengers seem victorious.

However, Thanos teleports to Wakanda as well to obtain the Mind Stone. All the Avengers, Okoye, T’Challa, and Groot gather to defend Vision, but Thanos effortlessly defeats them one by one, including Rogers, who is briefly able to hold back Thanos, much to the Titan’s surprise. Realizing that they have no other choice, Vision asks Maximoff to destroy the Mind Stone herself, which will likely kill Vision.

She reluctantly agrees and successfully shatters the Mind Stone moments before Thanos can get it, vaporizing both it and Vision. However, Thanos uses the power of the Time Stone to reverse time and restores both Vision and the Mind Stone, ripping the Mind Stone out from Vision’s skull, killing him for good. Having finally gathered all six Infinity Stones, Thanos prepares to execute his plan, but Thor arrives and catches Thanos off guard, unleashing his full power and the full might of Stormbreaker upon the Titan in a last-minute attempt to stop him, severely wounding Thanos as Stormbreaker buries itself in his chest.

However, Thanos survives the attack. He mocks Thor for not having hit him in the head and snaps his fingers in the Gauntlet, completing his plan. Thanos is momentarily transported into the Soulworld, where he sees a younger Gamora, who asks what the cost of achieving his goal was. Sadly, Thanos admits that it has cost him “everything”.

Thanos then returns to the real world, with the Gauntlet now mangled from the massive amount of energy used, and Thor furiously questions Thanos about what he did as a rumble can be heard throughout the universe. Thanos simply smirks at him and teleports away. As Thor is left to wonder what the outcome will be, Barnes suddenly turns to ash in front of Rogers. The effects of the snap manifest: half of the Wakandan army disintegrates as does T’Challa, Groot, Maximoff, and Wilson, leaving the survivors, regrouping around Vision’s body, to look in horror and unable to do anything but accept defeat.

On Titan, Mantis, Drax and Quill vanish, along with Strange, who tells Stark that there was “no other way”. Parker is the last to vanish and tearfully begs Stark not to let him go. While a traumatized Stark laments his failure, Nebula, the only other survivor, solemnly remarks that Thanos has achieved his goal. Thanos retires himself on a distant planet and rests while satisfactorily gazing out to the sunrise, considering his job done and smiling slightly at his triumph.

In a post-credit scene, Nick Fury and Maria Hill are monitoring the battle in Wakanda when they witness the effects of the Snap: an SUV crashes in front of them and when Hill looks inside, the driver has vanished. A helicopter crashes into a nearby skyscraper, seemingly pilotless. When Hill turns to dust in front of him, Fury grabs an old-fashioned pager and prepares to send a distress signal. When he starts to vanish as well, Fury laments his death but manages to activate the Pager, which displays a star pattern with a blue and red background.

THE OUTRIDERS
(First Appearance, Infinity: Free Comic Book Day, 2013)

The Outriders is a race of genetically engineered humanoid creatures with the purpose of serving their maker until they die.

Thanos used Outriders to find new planets inhabited by weak species he would raze. Upon finding a new world, an Outrider would report to Corvus Glaive, who would arrive to that planet along Thanos’ Black Order and demand a tribute for Thanos, if the inhabitants refused, that world would be annihilated.

After finding a new planet called Ahl-Agullo, one Outrider was tasked by Glaive to continue with his mission. He found Earth, and gathered different information about the situation of this world using his telepathy on numerous important inhabitants such as Inhuman king Black Bolt, who ripped off one of his four arms after discovering him; however, he was still able to get away. When he relayed back the information to Thanos, such as the Earth heroes the Avengers leaving the planet, Corvus gave him his reward: death.

Outriders are not born, they are made. A genetically engineered parasite-assassin solely devoted to the whims of its maker, these creatures have no names, just a binary existence defined by whether they complete the task given to them or whether they fail.”

(Free Comic Book Day, 2013)

Synopsis for 1st story

Corvus Glaive of the Black Order reflects on the origin of Outriders as one comes with a message: “Success” at the planet Ahl-Agullo. Glaive tells him to now accomplish what he was created for, and to find favor with “him” one last time.

Glaive then heads to Ahl-Agullo itself, where he meets with the planet’s king, Luxor. Glaive asks him where their champion, Augollux, is now at the present time, to which Luxor responds he does not know. Sadly, the question is revealed to be rhetorical, as Glaive soon holds up Augollux’s smashed sword and his severed arm. Luxor orders troops to kill him, but Glaive stops him and tells him that if he attacked, the city that has been built since the invasion by “him” will be quickly leveled. Luxor asks what he wants, and Glaive says “a tribute”.

Glaive returns with the tribute to “him”, his master. “Him” is revealed to be Thanos, and the tribute, which pleases him, is revealed to be several baby Agullo.

Meanwhile, the Outrider heads to Earth unseen. He goes from the Avengers to the X-Men and finally gets to S.W.O.R.D., where it finds Earth’s tribute – an innocent S.W.O.R.D. agent.

Avengers: Infinity War (2018) – 2.3.4 – Jonathan Hickman (Creator, The Outriders)

NEW WORLD ORDER – REPTILIAN DISCLOSURE

2018

REPTILIAN DISCLOSURE

Jonathan Hickman

The Official Story

JONATHAN HICKMAN
(Creator, The Outriders)

Jonathan Hickman (born September 3, 1972) is an American comic book writer and artist, best known for his creator-owned series The Nightly News, The Manhattan Projects and East of West, as well as his lengthy stints as a writer on Marvel’s Fantastic Four, The Avengers and The New Avengers. Hickman’s other notable work at Marvel includes the S.H.I.E.L.D. limited series, the creation of the Fantastic Four spin-off title FF, as well as two crossover limited series, Infinity and Secret Wars, both of which acted as centerpieces for the eponymous company-wide crossover storylines. Between 2019 and 2021, Hickman worked on “Dawn of X”, a relaunch of various X-Men-related titles for which he provided the core storyline and concepts.

Career

Before breaking into comics, Hickman worked in the fields of Web and CD-ROM development and later, advertising. Between 2006 and 2008, Hickman published his debut comic book series The Nightly News and Pax Romana, both of which he wrote, drew, colored and lettered, through Image. Soon after, he was invited to write for Marvel, and, in 2009, Hickman launched his first ongoing series Secret Warriors which followed Nick Fury and a group of superpowered operatives as they undertook espionage operations in the wake of the company-wide crossover storyline “Secret Invasion”. The following year, Hickman wrote the S.H.I.E.L.D. limited series which detailed the secret history of the eponymous spy organization operating within the Marvel Universe. During this period, he continued to publish various creator-owned projects through Image: Transhuman with artist J. M. Ringuet, A Red Mass for Mars with artist Ryan Bodenheim and The Red Wing with Nick Pitarra.

In 2009, Hickman began his run on Fantastic Four with the Dark Reign: Fantastic Four limited series, illustrated by Sean Chen, taking over the series proper with issue #570, drawn by Dale Eaglesham. In the storyline “Three”, which concluded in Fantastic Four #587, the Human Torch appeared to die stopping a horde of monsters from the other-dimensional Negative Zone. The series ended with the following issue and was relaunched as simply FF. Hickman finished his run on the Fantastic Four and became the writer of The Avengers and The New Avengers as part of the Marvel NOW! relaunch in late 2012. Hickman’s run on the titles spawned two company-wide crossover storylines, “Infinity” in 2013 and “Secret Wars” in 2015. After taking a leave from Marvel to focus on his long-form creator-owned titles, Hickman returned to the publisher for “Dawn of X”, the 2019 relaunch of the X-Men family of titles which began with the House of X and Powers of X limited series that laid out the new status quo developed by Hickman. He subsequently wrote the core X-Men series while the creators of other titles worked closely under his supervision. Hickman announced his departure from writing X-Men in August of 2021.
